Great marathon. Hope you can share Tiger Balm and extra energy gel in the last 10km next year. keep it up!!!
ReplyDeleteA. the handling of the traffic this year was worst compared to the last 2 CCM. (1)fuente osmeña circle going down to Jones, it was so traffic, you have to wait for the taxi/private vehicles to pass. (2) general maxilom ave corner gorordo, the CITOM in-charge didnt mind the runners but only the vehicles, a foreigner runner even shouted at the CITOM to please stop the cars so that runners can pass.
ReplyDeleteB. only 1 water, banana and bread at the finish line?
C. as usual, cheerers are only cheering on our way to Talisay, but no one was cheering on our way back, in which case thats where runners need it the most.
D. cold drinks next time
Vard
Medals for 21km finishers should also be provided by the organizers.
ReplyDelete1. There was no cold water and there was less sports drink even for the people who were leading the race. Summit as a sponsor was a lot better.
ReplyDelete2. Power gels the last 15k would be really good
3. There were a lot of uncovered directional boring maybe for power cable conduits, water lines, sewer lines in SRP. I saw atleast 2 people trip one male and one female. They got some nasty wounds.
4. The handling of the traffic was worse compared to last year's
Overall, the marathon was still good but we could do A LOT better.
Thanks!

ReplyDeleteSomewhere around Jones corner Colon area I was already going back some idiot Jeepney Driver almost sideswept me to pick up his passengers maybe next time there should be additional Marshals for this not to happen again.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
I did not get to run this year, but a colleague did run the half-marathon with his girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteApparently, the girlfriend did not know that her monthly visitor was visiting her at the very race. She did not realize that she was actually bleeding until the turning point. My colleague and the girlfriend have to beg for the marshalls to purchase sanitary napkins for her.
My suggestion is all water station should also provide sanitary napkins or tampons in case one female runner may have her monthly visitor unexpectedly drop by during the race.
1 Medical Aid station at the finish line shouldn't be cordoned off from the runners finishing the race.
ReplyDelete2 This is related to the first item. Staff assigned to the medical aid station should be more attentive. With what I saw, the staff was not very responsive. Someone collapsed at the finish line, and the people in the aid station didn't take notice. An organizer had to keep calling for a stretcher; the person who collapsed was helped up by two others instead.
3 Some vehicles were able to enter the race route. Maybe improve on traffic management next time to avoid accidents?
4 Maybe have a separate event/fun run? Quite a number of the students who ran the 5K were very, very rowdy.
It’s really great post.
ReplyDeletekeep it coming guys.... we hear you... thank you very much.
ReplyDelete1) everyone agree sports drink was better in 2011 than 2012.
ReplyDelete2) no chocolate at around km10. lots of choco in 2011! was excited to grab a handful this year but only small cheap ones at KM38(capitol).
3) traffic management was very lax.
4) finish line food and drinks not enough (compare to sm2sm)
5) hope registration fee don't increase. (Subic IM p700 only)
almost got hit with a taxi. the CITOM official who happened to be stationed at that intersection was just standing. he didn't do a thing until i shouted at him. he reprimanded the driver in response. some vehicles were also blocking our path at jones ave. traffic marshal needs to do a better job. they did a great job last year but not this time
ReplyDeleteover-all, the race was great for the fast-paced runners.
ReplyDeleteone thing. I can't distinguish a difference in sight between the water and the pocari sweat. i drank the water and shower myself with the pocari. lol
hi doc, Kudos to the hardwork that CERC had provided, but there are a few points that need some improvements, namely:
ReplyDelete1. The Cheerers along the way were actually quite LOUSY this year as compared to the last CCM ;
2. there were FEWER sinulog dancers along the route;
3. POCARI sweat is something new to the runners, most of those who ran the full mary were looking for the usual energy drink;
4. Some Water/hydration stations ran out of POCARI sweats (particularly in the Basilica area) and the team manning that particular station have difficulty refilling even the water glasses;
5. for the 42k runners there were NO PUTO and sikawate and even crackers in the SRP area as compared to the last CCM;
6. blower in the tunnel was turn off;
7. some medics were not attentive with their duties; and
8. Some Marshalls were not doing their task well -- one mashall even said to the runners " pag dali mo runners -- pag double time mo kay traffic na kaayo " --- he was saying this to the 42k runners on their way back to Fuente
PIT SENYOR
I think it would also help if traffic advisories regarding the marathon are published in local newspapers 7 days before or better yet, for the entire week before the marathon. In that way, passengers and motorists can take alternative routes to minimize traffic congestion. I believe the media sponsors of this event would really be a great help on that.
ReplyDeleteHi, just to offer my one centavo opinion doc:
ReplyDeleteMost of the comments i read above are about traffic management,
Why not let runners pass thru mango ave. during early stage of the race rather than at the last stage of the race. In that way marshals manning mango ave can be utilized somewhere to help ease traffic and runners as well. Traffic, heat and pollution, not to mention invictives from angry motorist can be avoided if mango Ave is opened to traffic earlier. As for runners upon exiting the srp tunnel,it would be a welcome relief knowing its all the way to the finishline from there.
Also timing chip start times are not so accurate, i started almost 2 mins after gun time and my start time recorded was even ahead as that of the lead pack?
- unlike some of the commenters above, i'm happy with the sports drink served. cold sports drink and water was available when i needed it. but maybe because i just ran the 21k... could be a different story for those who did the full mary.
ReplyDelete- how about a contest for motivational/cheer slogan along the way? either printed for race participants to see or actually cheered by a group. more fun factor in that! and participants get to vote on them after they finish the race?
- for raffle prizes... instead of drawing the names in the tambiolo, why not race finishers pick stubs from the tambiolo as soon as they cross the finish line... you know, either they'll get a "sorry better luck next time" or "congrats, you win a pair of new balance shoes!"... you get the drift... ;-)
- i'm a sucker for contest so here's another suggestion. contest for the singlet print/design and the medal design!
