  5. Congratulations to Haide! I was so worried when she passed out at the finish line. Was a poignant moment for her and her hubby though. Tremendous, tremendous effort.

Doc, BDM 145 ka next year? :)

  7. Thank you so much ninyong tanan. I don't feel superhuman after BDM.

I feel frail, human, humble and just truly grateful to be alive.

At KM 97 when pain was too unbearable death was the easier choice. I seriously wanted to jump the bridge after Bacolor Elementary school so I'd have an excuse not to finish. But then there was Sam the Running Ninja who was fighting and fighting and fighting to finish even as he hobbled his way. It wasn't about wanting to finish anymore. I just desperately wanted to live.

I also thought of people back home in Cebu, I didn't want to let them down. I didn't want to walk to the finishline. It was the biggest race of my life and I had to finish this race in style, so I ran the last KM at 7:03, too fast. Kaya nag-black-out.

I'm still looking for words. But will write about it. There were so many people who helped before, during and after BDM. I cannot thank you enough.

Congratulations sa lahat nang sumali kahit sa mga di umabot sa cut-off or nag withdraw. Showing up at the start was brave enough.

And the crew! But more on that later! They deserve a full blown blog entry! Hehe.

  9. Haidz, congrats. I've never done such a very long distance running back when I was very active in track&field. You've done a great job and I'm so so proud of you!

  10. Hi doc! Thanks for the post..
I really enjoyed the run from km 00 til km 102. more significant for me was km post #100 which stands beside the gate of our former school (don bosco, pampanga) that was buried by lahar. I was assigned there as a young brother in 1984 but never understood what that km 100 post stood for until i passed there on March 7, 2 kms away from the finish line. It was fun and with countless lessons. I will definitely join BDM 2011! Kuyog ka?
